It's getting hot hot HOT (seriously, come on, autumn!)

Hey there! A very warm welcome to you, here for VNN’s This Month In America August 2021. I’m Brittany Harlow.

We kicked the month off with some crazy network news. In case you missed it, VNN competed on a reality TV show for entrepreneurs from late July into early August. Me, specifically. It was such a great opportunity taking part in Season 2 of The Blox, challenging myself with entrepreneurs from all over the country! I can’t wait to show you all how we and everyone did on Season 2. Expect more news on that one in the near future. 

We’ve been real busy working on in-depth news stories, slated to come out in October and November, but never too busy for entrepreneur news.

Like the story we did on Business Savvy Physician here in Oklahoma. Founder and CEO Jamie Spann tells us she knows residents and young physicians just coming out of medical school have a lot of debt and not a lot of money, so she created an affordable online course to help train aspiring private practice physicians in business. 

And Laura Koval with AbleVeg taught us how to build a vertical garden. 

In other news, back to school drives were held throughout Broome County in New York. 

And in Michigan, we told you about an Afghanistan veteran walking 220 miles for mental health awareness. 

We’ve been active in our Muscogee Nation community, telling you all about Mvskoke Media’s journey to free press. Making history in September, it will be the first time a Native American tribe will vote whether to make free press guaranteed under their constitution. 

When we realized how low voter registration and turn out is for the Muscogee Nation, we held our own voter registration drive to be a resource for help and information.
