We at VNN are absolutely buzzing with the positive energy that surrounded last night’s “Exploring Indigenous Allyship” event at the Philbrook Museum of Art.
The engagement of our community members and their openness to explore what is needed to foster true Indigenous allyship is paramount to laying the groundwork for positive Native Non-Native relations. We couldn’t have asked for a better first round!
Participants engaged in thought-provoking discussions that deepened their understanding of Indigenous history and challenges. This kind of dialogue is a vital step towards breaking down barriers and increasing equity.
We dove deep into ally recommendations and took a hard look at room for improvement across multiple areas within our communities.
While celebrating this success, we recognize that there's much work ahead. Longterm commitment is needed to sustain momentum, broaden our collective understanding, and build onto this groundwork for positive change.
In the coming months, VNN will analyze our learning from this event as well as data collected from follow-up surveys, update our webpage with community resources, and plan more community events with our VNN partners.
Attendees: Keep an eye out for your post-event survey coming soon!
