Nation files suit after the DOI’s ‘stalling tactics’ hinder self-governance efforts
(OSAGE RESERVATION) When Geoffrey Standing Bear addressed the Osage Nation at his inauguration as principal chief of the Osage Nation in July of 2022, the audience became noticeably fired up when he called for the tribe to govern its own land, its own territories, and its own people.
“Minerals Council,” he said to a roll of luluing and applause: “It is time for you to fully manage our mineral estate for our people.”

(MUSCOGEE RESERVATION) Back-to-school season is officially underway for many schools across the Muscogee (Creek) Nation this week with many Mvskoke students returning to the classroom.
For some minority students, they may experience educators that have a hard time learning how to properly pronounce their name. The MCN Department of Education and Training recently acknowledged the issue and shared helpful tips on the cultural importance of properly learning names.
Building projects abound as Broken Arrow students start school year
(OKLAHOMA) Students who arrived for a new school year at Broken Arrow Public Schools (BAPS) on Wednesday were also treated to a new building, and many more are in the works.
Photos of the highly anticipated Event Center were presented at a recent school board meeting. The 114,560-square-foot building has several classrooms, an arena and practice rooms for cheer and wrestling.
