‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ receives seven Golden Globe nominations
(OSAGE NATION) It’s a big day for the cast and crew of “Killers of the Flower Moon,” the Osage Nation and for Indian Country. The film’s star, Lily Gladstone, became the first Indigenous woman in the history of the Golden Globes to be nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama, for her role as Mollie Burkhart, an Osage woman from Grayhorse who survived the Reign of Terror in the 1920s.
When will Tulsa’s lost Mvskoke allotment history be told?
(MUSCOGEE NATION) Among those researching and seeking to spread awareness of the Mvskoke allotment history in Tulsa are Tatianna Duncan (Mvskoke) and Brittany Harlow. Both have been vocal in their fight to tell the suppressed history of Tulsa, and the allotment grid it was initially comprised of.
Project Commutation sounds alarm on proposed rules changes
(OKLAHOMA) An organization that provides free legal representation to Oklahomans with excessive sentences warns the Pardon and Parole Board’s proposed rules changes will effectively eliminate commutations in the state. In 2018, a group of law students working with the Tulsa County Public Defender’s Office founded Project Commutation.
