Community comes together to honor Aubrey Dameron
(OKLAHOMA) On February 6, the Facebook page “Missing-Aubrey Dameron from Grove, Oklahoma” changed its name to “Remembering Aubrey Dameron from Grove, Oklahoma”, a digital signal affirming the tragic news Quapaw Marshals released the day before: the beloved Two Spirit woman’s remains had been found.
A post accompanied the change, expressing gratitude to everyone who had contributed to the search for Dameron and who had shared her story with love and compassion, and without judgment.
Bill limiting repeated temporary cabinet nominations vetoed by Chief Hill
(OKLAHOMA) A bill that would have limited the Principal Chief’s ability to repeatedly nominate temporary cabinet positions, and would have penalized those who attempted to operate in those positions without approval by the National Council, has been vetoed by Principal Chief Hill.
The bill had received unanimous support from the council, with all but one person on the council being a co-sponsor of the bill brought up by Representative Dode Barnett of the Creek District, and it had been passed by the National Council with a vote of 15-0.
City of Tulsa Prepared for Winter Weather; Response Plan and Safety Tips
(OKLAHOMA) The City of Tulsa, Tulsa Area Emergency Management Agency (TAEMA), and various community partners have mobilized resources for extreme cold temperatures and winter weather coming to Tulsa.
Extreme cold is expected to enter the area starting Monday night and continue through Friday. With wind chill values in the negative double-digits, exposure to these types of temperatures are life-threatening and can lead to frostbite and hypothermia.
