Oral arguments set in Muscogee (Creek) Nation's fight over Hickory Ground
(GEORGIA) Nearly 200 years after the Muscogee (Creek) Nation was forcibly removed from its homelands in Georgia and Alabama, the fight to protect its ancestors and sacred sites continues. A pivotal hearing is scheduled in a federal courthouse on September 25th as the Nation seeks justice for its ancestors who were buried at Hickory Ground, a historically significant site in Wetumpka, Alabama.
Chickasaw agency employees recognized with Red Feathers for missing and murdered teen investigation
(CHICKASAW NATION) It has been five years since Faith Lindsey, a 17-year-old Chickasaw citizen from Pauls Valley, went missing after being tragically murdered.
Recently, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) recognized current and former Chickasaw Nation Emergency Management (CNEM) employees with Red Feather awards for their pivotal role in the search for Lindsey and the investigation into her disappearance and murder.
National Archives Foundation to honor Grann, Scorsese and Gladstone
(NATIONAL) On October 21, 2024, the National Archives Foundation will honor award-winning author David Grann, legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese and Academy Award Nominated Actress Lily Gladstone with the prestigious Records of Achievement Award for their collaboration and work to bring the true story of the serial murders of the Osage Nation to light.
Grann’s award-winning book “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI” was researched and extensively utilized National Archives historical documents.
