After Oklahoma banned some state-funded DEI initiatives, schools renamed offices and shuffled jobs
(OKLAHOMA) The University of Oklahoma is closing all diversity, equity and inclusion offices and the University of Central Oklahoma dissolved a committee after Gov. Kevin Stitt banned state funds from supporting certain programs.
But most of the 128 agencies that have submitted reports so far said they made no changes as a result of the new rule.
A proposed HUD rule could make it easier for people with criminal backgrounds to get housing assistance, but it wouldn’t apply to housing choice vouchers
(NATIONAL) This year, Tulsa County, Oklahoma’s annual homeless census found that of the area’s estimated 1,427 people experiencing homelessness, 56% had a history of incarceration.
After leaving prison, people often have trouble finding jobs and housing that accept applicants who have been incarcerated, which can lead to homelessness.
"Fancy Dance," filmed in Oklahoma, returns to Circle Cinema with sold-out crowd
(OKLAHOMA) The made-in-Oklahoma film “Fancy Dance” premiered in select theaters Friday night, including Circle Cinema where it was screened at a film festival last July.
Circle Cinema’s sold-out premiere included an extended introduction by director Erica Tremblay, one of the first recipients of the Cherokee Nation Film Incentive.
