MCN Chief and Oklahoma Gov. Extend Tobacco Compact Talks
(OKLAHOMA) The Muscogee (Creek) Nation’s National Council held an emergency session via teleconference on December 26, 2024 where the council unanimously approved MCN Principal Chief David Hill to execute a tobacco compact.
The council addressed the following legislation, the interpretation of which is attributed to language in the bill:
VNN receives $30k to create MMIWG2T reporting project for Indigenous journalists
(OKLAHOMA) Verified News Network (VNN) is accepting applications to take part in a new reporting project focused on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Two-Spirit and Transgender People (MMIWG2T).
The MMIWG2T Historical Reporting Project seeks to demonstrate the connection between historical injustice and missing and murder cases today through a new dedicated series of 15-20 news stories.
City Prepares for Extreme Cold, Possible Winter Weather; 35 Outreach Teams Deployed to Assist Homeless Population
(OKLAHOMA) The City of Tulsa is preparing for severe cold weather expected next week, in addition to potential wintry weather on Sunday, Jan. 5.
For the first time, the City of Tulsa has a formalized partnership in place with Housing Solutions Tulsa and other A Way Home for Tulsa Partners to ensure our most vulnerable community members have shelter and resources during the cold weather.
