VNN Oklahoma announces ambitious goals to advance Allotment Era research and reporting
(MUSCOGEE NATION) It was a probate scandal that sent shockwaves across the nation. Evidence of assault, suspected murder, and a complete disregard for the humanity and rights of American Indians were investigated and compiled into the Indian Rights’ Association’s 1924 report “Oklahoma’s Poor Rich Indians”. Support for change was voiced. Bills to remedy the probate corruption were filed. And then it all went away.
Osage Congress approves one-year extension of tobacco compact
(OSAGE NATION) Amid a year of debates over renewing tribal compacts at the Oklahoma state government level between Gov. Kevin Stitt and the Legislature, the Osage Nation’s 10-year tobacco tax compact will remain in place for an additional year. Approved in 2013, the Nation’s tobacco tax compact was set to expire Dec. 31, 2023, but both the state House and Senate approved a bill allowing existing tribal tobacco compacts to remain in place for another year pending renegotiations.

When Blunck arrived to check on them, he noticed their well-watered grass could make it hard for a fire to make it to the home–but he also knew that the embers from a fire, called 'firebrands,' can be picked up by wind and travel.

(NEW YORK) Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, ‘Kat Proctor’ of Pretty Kitty Nails has managed to become one of the busiest and most successful nail techs in Binghamton in a short amount of time. Proctor said she fell in love with nail art from social media videos back in 2015.
